PSV's Control, Porto's Resistance
FC Porto and PSV Eindhoven are level at 0-0 at half-time in their Champions League meeting at Estádio Do Dragão, a scoreline that flatters the hosts and frustrates the visitors in equal measure.
PSV have controlled the ball with 67 percent possession, completing 353 passes at 90 percent accuracy. Porto have managed just 155 passes at 82 percent. The Dutch side have pushed 232 passes into Porto's half; the hosts have managed 45 in the opposite direction.
That territorial grip has translated into chances. PSV have taken 10 shots to Porto's four, with eight touches in the box to Porto's four. The visitors have created two big chances to Porto's one. Yet only one PSV shot has found the target, and the expected goals tell the story of a half short on clear openings: 0.77 for PSV, 0.51 for Porto.
Match stats at half-time
PSV Eindhoven created the better chances: 0.77 xG to 0.51.
The xG Gap That Isn't
For all PSV's possession, the expected goals margin is narrow. PSV's 0.77 xG has come entirely from open play, with nothing from set pieces. Porto's 0.51 is almost identical in composition: 0.50 from open play, 0.02 from set plays.
Oskar Pietuszewski has been the most threatening figure on the pitch, carrying 0.50 xG on his own — nearly matching Porto's entire first-half output. Ivan Perišić has added 0.26 xG, Guus Til 0.10, Filip Kostić 0.07 and Sergiño Dest 0.05. Those five players account for the bulk of PSV's attacking threat, but none has found the breakthrough.
Porto's shape has been a 4-3-3, PSV's a 4-2-3-1. The hosts have won 19 duels to PSV's 12, suggesting a physical edge in individual contests even as they concede the ball. Porto have committed two fouls to PSV's five, and the only yellow card of the half went to a PSV player.
Shots by player
Oskar Pietuszewski had the most shots, 3.

What the Second Half Needs
Porto have had four touches in the box and zero shots on target. For a home side in the Champions League, that is a passive return. PSV's problem is different: they have the volume but not the precision. One shot on target from 10 attempts is the statistic that will concern their bench most.
The tie remains there for either side. Porto need to turn duels into entries into the final third. PSV need to turn entries into shots on target. The xG gap of 0.26 is the smallest margin in the game — and the reason it is still 0-0.
