Bodø/Glimt and Lille have confirmed their starting line-ups for Tuesday's Champions League meeting at Aspmyra Stadion, with the visitors forced into a midfield change after Nabil Bentaleb was ruled out through illness.

Bentaleb, the Algeria international, did not travel with the Lille squad to Norway, robbing the French side of a senior presence in the centre of the park. The 31-year-old had been expected to feature in Bruno Génésio's midfield rotation, but his absence leaves Lille lighter in an area where Bodø/Glimt's intensity often tells.

Bodø/Glimt's 4-3-3 and the Aspmyra Factor

Kjetil Knutsen has named a familiar 4-3-3, the shape that has underpinned Bodø/Glimt's rise from Norwegian outsiders to European regulars. The front three will look to pin Lille's full-backs deep, while the midfield trio is tasked with winning second balls and feeding the wide forwards early.

At Aspmyra, on a surface that rewards quick, vertical passing, that structure has historically overwhelmed visiting sides unaccustomed to the pace of the Norwegian game. Bodø/Glimt's attacking patterns are well-drilled: the wide forwards drift inside, the full-backs overlap, and the central striker — Andreas Helmersen — provides the focal point.

Helmersen's inclusion is a show of faith in the 24-year-old, who has been asked to lead the line in Europe's elite competition. His movement between the centre-backs will be central to whether Bodø/Glimt can turn territorial pressure into clear chances.

Lille's 4-2-3-1 and the Bentaleb Absence

Lille set up in a 4-2-3-1, with Benjamin André anchoring the double pivot. The 35-year-old captain is the metronome of this Lille side, and his ability to break up play and start counter-attacks will be tested by Bodø/Glimt's aggressive pressing.

Without Bentaleb, Génésio loses a left-footed option in midfield and a player capable of carrying the ball through the lines. The onus falls on André and his partner to shield the back four, particularly with Bodø/Glimt's wide forwards looking to isolate the full-backs.

Berke Özer starts in goal for Lille, while Calvin Verdonk and Dilane Bakwa are among the outfield names tasked with delivering a result in one of European football's most hostile away venues. Bakwa's pace on the flank could be Lille's most potent outlet if Bodø/Glimt commit bodies forward.

What the Selections Say

Bodø/Glimt have gone with continuity: the same 4-3-3 that has served them in domestic and European competition, with Helmersen trusted to lead the attack. Lille, by contrast, are managing an absence they did not plan for. Bentaleb's illness removes a layer of experience from the midfield, and Génésio's response — sticking with the 4-2-3-1 — suggests he believes structure can compensate for the missing personnel.

The match pits Bodø/Glimt's high-tempo, vertical game against Lille's more measured build-up. On a cold night in northern Norway, the first 20 minutes will reveal whether Lille can settle or whether Bodø/Glimt's press forces them into the kind of errors that have undone bigger clubs at Aspmyra.

Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 local time. Both managers have named their teams; the tactical questions now give way to the answers the pitch provides.
