Background in coverage of the assisted dying bill in the House of Lords.

Our verdict

True

Second reading passed 330-275 on 29 November 2024 and third reading 314-291 on 20 June 2025.

What we found

Both votes are on the record: a majority of 55 at second reading and 23 at third reading. The claim as first written gave the third reading as June 2024, which is wrong; it was June 2025. Our first version also wrongly treated the dates as being in the future.
