The claim
“What's happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration … This isn't about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country!”
Donald Trump wrote this in a post on his Truth Social network on 6 October 2026, as reported by AFP on France 24.
Our verdict
False
French students have been blockading schools since late September over school conditions, including class sizes, timetables, a shortage of teachers and overheated classrooms. Reporting has found no link between the movement and migration or Islam, and Trump gave no evidence for his claim.
What we found
Trump posted on Truth Social on 6 October 2026 that what is happening in France is "nothing less than out of control mass migration" and that "this isn't about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country". The reporting on the protests says otherwise. AFP, published by France 24, reports that students have blocked the entrances to hundreds of high schools since late September "to demand better conditions", and that in France "no link has yet been established between the student movement and any religious or identity-based demands". An earlier AFP report, published by The Straits Times on 30 September, lists the students' grievances as timetables, class sizes, a shortage of teachers and overheated classrooms, and quotes a 16-year-old describing conditions at her school as "unsanitary". Both reports come from the same news agency, so they are one line of reporting rather than two. We found no source that supports Trump's explanation, and he did not offer one. On the evidence available, the claim is false: the protests are about schools.
