The claim

“Donald Trump has a phone conversation scheduled with Vladimir Putin on October 7.”

Donald TrumpNews reportOctober 7, 2026Read the original

Donald Trump made the claim publicly on 7 October 2026, as reported by ua.news and other outlets.

Our verdict

False

Donald Trump did say a call with Vladimir Putin was scheduled, but the date of 7 October is not supported. The Kremlin said no call had been arranged, so we rate the claim as false.

What we found

Trump himself said a call with Putin was planned. Reports from France 24, ABC News and UPI all record him saying a call was scheduled, and a TASS report notes he spoke of a call on 7 October but did not say the call itself was set for that day. However, a Yahoo report on 7 October said the Russian government stated that no call had been scheduled as of that Wednesday. That official denial, together with the fact that no source confirms the specific date, outweighs Trump's own unverified statement. We therefore rate the claim that a call was scheduled for 7 October as false.

What we could not confirm

  • We could not find any call log, transcript or official scheduling record confirming a call was booked for 7 October.
  • We could not rule out private diplomatic contacts that were never made public.

How we checked

We looked at contemporaneous news reports of Trump's own statements and at official Russian government statements about whether a call had been arranged. We found no primary record, such as a call log or transcript, confirming the specific date. We reviewed 8 relevant sources.
