“The Muslim Brotherhood officially celebrated Abdul El-Sayed's primary election victory.” — Mike Rogers. Our verdict: Partly True.
Mike RogersNews reportOctober 26, 2026

Mike Rogers made the claim on 26 October 2026, in coverage published by St. Louis Public Radio about Donald Trump's attacks on Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan.

Our verdict

Partly True

The claim is partly true. Abdul El-Sayed did win the 2026 Michigan Democratic Senate primary, but we could not confirm that the Muslim Brotherhood officially celebrated that victory.

What we found

The claim has two parts. The first part — that Abdul El-Sayed won his primary — is well supported. NBC News reported on 5 August 2026 that he won the Michigan Democratic Senate primary, and his own campaign said he won on 4 August 2026. Ballotpedia News also reported the result. The second part — that the Muslim Brotherhood officially celebrated — is not well supported. The only evidence we found was a report in the Algemeiner on 10 August 2026. It said a publication called Ikhwan Online, which it linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, published an article celebrating the win. That is a single secondary report. It does not prove that the Muslim Brotherhood itself took an official action, or that Ikhwan Online speaks officially for the group. We also could not find the original quote from Mike Rogers making this specific claim. Because one part of the claim checks out and the other does not, we rate it partly true.

What we could not confirm

  • Whether the Muslim Brotherhood officially celebrated Abdul El-Sayed's primary victory. We found no statement from the Muslim Brotherhood itself, such as an official website, press release or verified social media account.
  • Whether Ikhwan Online is an official organ of the Muslim Brotherhood with the authority to speak for the organisation. The only report we found did not establish this independently.
  • Whether Mike Rogers made this specific claim about a Muslim Brotherhood celebration. The sources we checked did not contain the quote.
