LA Galaxy and Austin FC have confirmed their starting lineups for Saturday's Major League Soccer fixture at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 UTC.

The Galaxy line up in a 4-2-3-1. Austin FC set up in a 3-4-3.

Besard Šabović, Christian Ramirez, Damian Las, Emiro Garcés and Ervin Torres are the players to track from the confirmed XIs. Their inclusion shapes how both teams will approach a late-season league round with points still to play for.

What the shapes say

The Galaxy's 4-2-3-1 gives them a double pivot in front of the back four and a three-man band behind a lone striker. That structure asks the wide attackers to tuck in and the full-backs to provide the width, while the No. 10 finds pockets between Austin's midfield and defensive lines.

Austin's 3-4-3 is the more aggressive of the two on paper. Three centre-backs allow the wing-backs to push high, and the front three can press the Galaxy's first line of build-up without leaving the middle exposed. The trade-off is the space behind those wing-backs when the Galaxy turn the ball over quickly.

The matchup to watch is Austin's front three against the Galaxy's back four. If Austin's wing-backs pin the Galaxy full-backs deep, the home side's midfield two will have to cover more ground than the shape ideally allows.

The names in the XIs

Šabović is the creative reference point in the Galaxy's attacking line. In a 4-2-3-1, his role is to link the double pivot to the striker and to arrive in the box late when the wide players stretch Austin's back three.

Ramirez gives the Galaxy a focal point through the middle. Against three centre-backs, his movement across the front post and his ability to hold the ball under contact will determine whether the home side can turn possession into entries into the penalty area.

For Austin, Garcés and Torres are the names that stand out in the confirmed XI. Garcés slots into the defensive structure in front of Las, while Torres gives Austin another runner in the front three. Las, in goal, is the last line behind a back three that will be tested by the Galaxy's rotations in the half-spaces.

Austin's 3-4-3 only works if the wing-backs commit to both directions. If they sit deep, the front three becomes isolated and the Galaxy's double pivot can dictate tempo. If they push high, Austin can pin the Galaxy and force turnovers in the final third.

What is at stake

This is a late-season MLS fixture, and both teams have confirmed their strongest available XIs. The Galaxy's 4-2-3-1 against Austin's 3-4-3 sets up a clear contrast: the home side's structure versus the visitors' aggression.

Kick-off is at 21:00 UTC at Dignity Health Sports Park. The lineups are in, the shapes are set, and the first tactical question — who wins the space behind Austin's wing-backs — will be answered inside the opening 15 minutes.
