You accept your admission on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) portal by logging in, finding your admission status and confirming the offer. You can also reject the offer from the same page.

What you need

  • Your O-Level results (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) uploaded and verified on your CAPS portal.

Step by step

  1. Check your admission status. If it shows Admitted, you can proceed. If it shows Not Admitted or Admission in Progress, see the section below before continuing.
  2. Choose to accept the admission.
  3. Once your acceptance is recorded, print your admission letter from the CAPS portal.

Things to know

Your status will only change to Admitted after your institution has formally recommended your admission to JAMB and JAMB has approved it. Until both steps happen, the portal will keep showing Not Admitted or Admission in Progress, even if your school has told you that you have a place.

If your institution has shortlisted you but CAPS still shows Not Admitted or Admission in Progress, check three things. First, make sure your O-Level results are successfully uploaded and verified on your CAPS portal. Second, confirm that your institution has formally recommended your admission to JAMB for final desk clearance. Third, check the Transfer Approval section on CAPS for any unaccepted transfer offer.

You must accept your admission on CAPS before you can print your official admission letter.

JAMB released a video guide on Friday, 28 August 2026 showing candidates how to accept or reject an admission offer on CAPS. That release came ahead of an August 31 deadline, and candidates at the time reported admission status delays, SMS failures and payment problems.

If you completed a payment through Remita, bank transfer or USSD but did not receive your e-PIN, send UTMEPIN or DEPIN to 55019 or 66019 from your registered telephone number. You can also retrieve your transaction receipt with the 12-digit RRR number and check the transaction status at remita.net. If the e-PIN is still not issued, raise a support ticket under Payment & Remita Verification with your RRR and bank debit alert attached.

If you have a biometric verification issue, do not attempt to register at unauthorized cafes. Report directly to the nearest JAMB State Headquarters Office. Only the JAMB State Coordinator is authorized to process candidates categorized under Biometric Exception, following manual identity vetting.

For support, you can raise a ticket through JAMB's online ticket system. JAMB's contact numbers are +2348166335513 and +2348123658955.

Common questions

Can I accept my admission if CAPS still shows "Not Admitted"? No. You can only accept or reject an offer once your status updates to Admitted, which happens after your institution recommends you and JAMB approves the admission.

Why is my status stuck on "Admission in Progress"? This usually means your institution has not yet formally recommended your admission to JAMB for final desk clearance, or your O-Level results are not yet uploaded and verified on your CAPS portal. Check both.

Do I need to accept my admission before printing my admission letter? Yes. You must accept the admission on CAPS before you can print the official admission letter.

What should I do if I have an unaccepted transfer offer? Check the Transfer Approval section on CAPS. An unaccepted transfer offer there can affect your admission status.

Who do I contact if I have a biometric verification problem? Go directly to the nearest JAMB State Headquarters Office. Only the JAMB State Coordinator can process candidates under Biometric Exception.
