Janet Damita Jo Jackson is an American singer, songwriter, actress and dancer. She was born on 16 May 1966 in Gary, Indiana, the youngest child of Joe and Katherine Jackson. She began her career in 1976 performing with her siblings on the variety show The Jacksons. She signed with A&M Records and released her first album at age 16. She has been associated with record labels including A&M, Virgin, Island, Rhythm Nation, BMG and Cinq, and with the publisher Believe Music. She performed at the 2025 American Music Awards and continued to perform live as of May 2026.
