UNIVITY Secures €27M for VLEO 5G Satellite Demo, Targets 3,400-Satellite Constellation by 2028
UNIVITY raises €27 million to advance its Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) 5G satellite technology, targeting a 3,400-satellite constellation by 2028 for global connectivity.

UNIVITY secured €27 million to advance its Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) 5G satellite demonstration. The company plans a 3,400-satellite constellation by 2028 for global commercial services.
UNIVITY has secured €27 million ($31.6 million) in Series A funding to propel its 5G satellite connectivity demonstration. This investment will support the development of innovative orbital technology aimed at enhancing global communications.
The company designs its satellites to operate in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) at approximately 375 kilometers. This significantly lower altitude compared to traditional satellite constellations aims to reduce data latency and enhance network performance. Additionally, UNIVITY utilizes 5G spectrum, which ensures compatibility with existing mobile network infrastructure, potentially streamlining integration for users.
The new funding specifically supports the "uniShape" mission, involving two VLEO 5G demonstration satellites. These satellites will undergo comprehensive testing of both software and hardware in space. Charles Delfieux, UNIVITY's president and founder, stated this de-risking phase is crucial, "paving the way for large-scale deployment."
This demonstration serves as a critical step toward UNIVITY’s ambitious commercial launch scheduled for 2028. The company intends to deploy its "uniSky" constellation, which could comprise up to 3,400 satellites. This expansive network represents a projected investment of several billion euros, reflecting the scale of the company's long-term vision for global connectivity.
Observers will track the progress of UNIVITY's uniShape mission as it moves toward its 2028 operational target and the development of its full uniSky constellation.
