The 2026 Scottish Parliament election saw its final constituency results declared after 20:00, with Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch announced at 20:33 and Uddingston and Bellshill at 20:58.

Counting began at 09:00 across Scotland’s 73 constituencies and eight regional lists. Early results rolled in from the north, but the timetable stretched into the evening as officials verified ballots and addressed recounts where needed.

Aberdeen Central was the first of the late‑night seats to report, confirming its outcome at 13:16. The pace slowed later in the day, and the last two constituencies crossed the 20:00 threshold. Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, a large rural seat covering the western Highlands, was declared at 20:33. The final declaration came from Uddingston and Bellshill at 20:58, sealing the complete constituency picture.

All regional results were announced earlier, with the Highlands and Islands region declared at 19:00 and the Edinburgh and Lothians East region at 18:00. The staggered timing reflects the logistical challenges of counting in remote areas and handling high voter turnouts.

The full set of constituency results now allows parties to calculate their total seat count, including the additional 56 regional seats allocated by proportional representation. The final numbers will determine whether the incumbent government retains a majority, faces a coalition, or cedes power to opposition parties.

What to watch next: The official seat allocation will be published tomorrow, and the first minister will be nominated within the week. Analysts will focus on how the late‑declared seats affect the overall balance of power in Holyrood.
