Russia launched 619 drones and 47 missiles in an overnight assault across eight Ukrainian regions, killing five people and injuring 30. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 610 of these projectiles.
Overnight, Russia conducted extensive aerial assaults across Ukraine, continuing a pattern of sustained attacks against cities and critical infrastructure. These strikes follow previous incidents, including an attack on Odesa that killed an elderly couple.
Russian forces launched 619 drones and 47 missiles during the latest offensive. Ukraine's air defenses intercepted 610 of these incoming projectiles. Despite the high interception rate, the attacks resulted in at least five fatalities and 30 injuries across eight Ukrainian regions.
The central Ukrainian city of Dnipro was significantly impacted, with over 20 individuals reported wounded, among them a nine-year-old child and two police officers. Further casualties included two deaths in the northern region of Chernihiv, specifically in Nizhyn. A one-year-old boy was among those wounded in the Kharkiv region. In Donetsk, one person sustained injuries in Sloviansk and another in Kramatorsk, with six homes, five high-rise buildings, a post office, and a church also reporting damage.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia's tactics remain unchanged. He noted that Russia employs drones, cruise missiles (which navigate at low altitudes using jet engines), and ballistic missiles (which follow a high, arcing trajectory) primarily against civilian infrastructure. This includes residential areas, public buildings, and essential services rather than solely military targets. The consistent use of a large volume of diverse air-launched weapons maintains pressure on Ukraine's air defense systems and civilian populations.
Continued monitoring will focus on the scale of future Russian aerial operations and Ukraine's evolving defensive strategies.
