Pro-Palestine legal support requests totaled 1,131 instances in 2025, indicating sustained advocacy nationwide despite significant political and administrative pressures.

The year 2025 marked continued challenges for pro-Palestine advocacy in the United States. Following the initiation of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, demonstrations and activism intensified, particularly across university campuses. The Trump administration applied significant pressure during this period, threatening federal funding for institutions perceived to host anti-Semitic activities and targeting individual activists. Universities responded with new restrictions and crackdowns on protests.

Palestine Legal, an organization supporting Palestinian freedom movements in the US, recorded 1,131 queries for legal assistance in 2025. This figure reflects an ongoing need for legal support amidst an active advocacy landscape. While substantial, the 2025 total represents a decrease from the record 2,184 requests received in 2024, a year marked by widespread campus protests and subsequent administrative and law enforcement responses. The 2025 request rate, however, remained 300 percent higher than in 2022, the year before the intensified conflict in Gaza began. The overwhelming majority of these legal support requests originated from university students and faculty, with 122 requests categorized as immigration and border-related.

The sustained volume of legal aid requests in 2025 demonstrates the persistence of pro-Palestine advocacy. Despite the restrictive environment, activists continued their efforts, often facing punitive consequences. Dima Khalidi, executive director of Palestine Legal, commented on the situation, stating, "While universities have largely cowered and caved to coercive pressure from the Trump administration and its pro-Israel supporters, student activists for Palestinian and collective freedom remain a model of moral conviction and courage." This continued activism highlights ongoing debates regarding free speech protections and governmental influence on academic institutions. Observers will continue to monitor the trajectory of advocacy efforts and judicial rulings impacting civil liberties in the coming year.
