Ocean Exchange will award three $100,000 non-dilutive grants in 2026 to innovators advancing ocean sustainability, with applications opening region-by-region and twelve finalists pitching live in Fort Lauderdale.

The Neptune Awards, run by Ocean Exchange, seek scalable solutions that improve ocean understanding while reducing environmental impact. Winners gain funding, visibility, and access to a global blue-economy network.

The blue economy encompasses industries such as maritime transport, fisheries, renewable energy, and tourism that rely on healthy ocean ecosystems. Experts estimate it could generate over $2.5 trillion annually by 2030 if managed sustainably.

Each grant amounts to $100,000 and does not require equity dilution. The funds can be used for product development, field testing, or scaling operations.

Applications close June 22 for Asia/Oceania. July 10 for Europe/Middle East/Africa. August 7 for the Americas.

The program will select 30 global semifinalists, from which 12 finalists will advance to pitch live. Judging criteria focus on innovation, impact, and execution capability.

At the Fort Lauderdale event, registered delegates will evaluate the pitches and cast votes that determine the three winners. The process is designed to be transparent and based on predefined scoring rubrics.

The live pitches will take place at the Ocean Exchange 2026 event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from October 25 to 27. The event also features panel discussions, technology showcases, and networking sessions.

Attendees include investors, researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders from the maritime, energy, and environmental sectors. This mix aims to connect innovators with potential partners and customers.

Previous Neptune winners have launched AI-driven aquaculture systems, underwater robotics, and emissions-reduction technologies that attracted follow-on investment. Some have secured additional funding ranging from $500,000 to $2 million within a year of winning.

Applicants must be startups or innovative enterprises with a working prototype or operational solution. They must demonstrate scalability potential and measurable environmental or societal impact tied to ocean sustainability.

Observers should watch the October event to see which technologies secure the grants and gain traction in the blue-economy market.
