The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency recently disrupted significant illicit operations across Nigeria. Operatives seized 10,000 Captagon pills, 1.043 kilograms of cocaine, and 394 components used in improvised explosive devices.

Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its campaign against illicit substances and national security threats. Recent operations highlight the agency’s focus on disrupting major trafficking routes and supply chains within the country.

In Kwara state, NDLEA operatives intercepted 10,000 Captagon pills and nine packets of Tapentadol. Authorities arrested 33-year-old Nasiru Mu’azu in connection with this seizure. Captagon, a highly addictive pill prevalent in the Middle East, induces euphoria, extends wakefulness for days, and eliminates fear, often leading to reckless actions.

Separately, in Oyo state, a suspect excreted 45 pellets of cocaine. These pellets totaled 1.043 kilograms, indicating a significant amount of the illicit substance. The interdiction took place along the Ibadan/Oyo expressway.

Further operations targeted other critical threats. In Niger state, NDLEA officers seized 394 components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Officers apprehended 26-year-old Mohammed Aliyu during this interdiction along the Kontagora/Zuru road.

These operations underscore the multifaceted nature of illicit networks operating within Nigeria. The seizure of Captagon, often linked to conflict financing, and IED components highlights broader security concerns, extending beyond mere drug trafficking. Public health risks associated with substances like cocaine and Tapentadol also receive attention through these efforts.

Continued inter-agency cooperation and intelligence sharing remain critical in combating these complex criminal organizations. The nation now watches for sustained enforcement efforts and further breakthroughs against these ongoing threats.
