Galatasaray host Kasımpaşa at RAMS Park with injury doubts and a narrow win probability
Galatasaray lead Kasımpaşa 1-0 at half-time at RAMS Park, and the goal arrived in the most Galatasaray way possible: a set piece, a defender, and the last meaningful touch of the half. Abdülkerim Bardakci met Aleksey Batrakov's delivery in the 45th minute and headed it home, converting a chance worth 0.048 xG into the only goal of the opening period.
It was no less than the hosts deserved. Galatasaray have dominated every phase of this first half, and the scoreline is the thinnest possible reflection of that control.
Match stats at half-time
Galatasaray created the better chances: 0.88 xG to 0.15.
One-Way Traffic in Istanbul
The numbers tell a story of near-total territorial dominance. Galatasaray hold 70% possession to Kasımpaşa's 30%, and the passing gap is even wider: 210 accurate passes at 84% for the hosts against 71 at 65% for the visitors. Galatasaray have completed 111 passes in the opposition half; Kasımpaşa have managed 34.
The chance creation follows the same pattern. Galatasaray have generated 0.88 xG to Kasımpaşa's 0.15, with 11 shots to 3 and 6 on target to 1. The hosts have touched the ball in the box 26 times; the visitors, three. Big chances read 3-1. Four corners to nil.
Both sides line up in 4-2-3-1, but only one of those shapes has functioned as a platform for pressure. Kasımpaşa's midfield two have been pinned deep, unable to disrupt Galatasaray's circulation or spring anything meaningful in transition. Their single shot on target and 0.15 xG represent the entirety of their attacking output.
The Set-Piece Edge
The goal itself fits the broader pattern of how Galatasaray have created. Their 0.88 xG splits into 0.55 from open play and 0.33 from set pieces. Kasımpaşa's 0.15 splits 0.11 open play and 0.05 set play. The hosts have been the more dangerous side from dead balls by a factor of more than six.
Bardakci's header was his only goal of the half but not his only contribution to the attacking effort. He leads the individual numbers with 0.28 xG, well clear of Rafael Leão's 0.26 and Gabriel Sara's 0.03. Batrakov, who supplied the assist, registered 0.02 xG himself. Barış Alper Yılmaz has been involved in the build-up without yet converting that involvement into a shot of note.
Shots by player
Yunus Akgün had the most shots, 3.
Figures in shots
Leão's 0.26 xG is the standout figure among the attackers and suggests the Portuguese forward has been the primary open-play threat, even without a goal to show for it. The fact that a centre-back leads the xG chart, however, says something about how this half has gone: Galatasaray's best chances have come from the positions Kasımpaşa least want to defend.
What the Second Half Needs
A 1-0 lead built on 70% possession and a 26-3 box-touch advantage should feel more comfortable than it does. Galatasaray have created enough to be further ahead, and the gap between their 0.88 xG and their single goal is the one number that keeps this match alive.
Kasımpaşa have shown nothing to suggest they can flip the game, but they also trail by only one. The visitors have committed 8 fouls to Galatasaray's 7, with two yellow cards apiece, and the game has been physical without boiling over. If Kasımpaşa can find a way to get their midfield higher and turn Galatasaray's possession into something more contested, the second half could look different.
For now, the story of this half is simple: Galatasaray controlled everything, and Bardakci made it count.
