Fatima Sana scored a fifty in just 15 balls, breaking the women’s T20 world record and guiding Pakistan to a 133‑run win over Zimbabwe to sweep the series 3‑0.

Pakistan hosted Zimbabwe at Karachi’s National Stadium for the final match of a three‑game Twenty20 (T20) series. Opting to bat first, the home side posted 223 for four in their allotted 20 overs.

Zimbabwe managed only 90 runs in 17.1 overs, handing Pakistan a 133‑run victory and a clean sweep. The win gave Pakistan a 2‑0 lead in the ICC Women’s Championship points table for the 2024‑2025 cycle.

Fatima Sana, who also captains the side, reached fifty off 15 balls, setting a new women’s Twenty20 (T20) world record for the fastest half‑century. Sophie Devine of New Zealand, Phoebe Litchfield of Australia and India’s Richa Ghosh previously shared the 18‑ball benchmark. Sana finished the innings with 62 runs from 19 balls, striking 10 fours and two sixes for a strike rate of 326 runs per 100 balls.

She also contributed with the ball, taking one wicket as Zimbabwe’s innings collapsed. In her last ten limited‑overs matches, Sana has accumulated 283 runs and taken 18 wickets, underscoring her all‑round consistency. At 24 years old, she has become the team’s leading run‑scorer and wicket‑taker over the past season.

The record‑breaking knock highlights Sana’s emergence as a premier all‑rounder in international women’s Twenty20 (T20) cricket. It reinforces Pakistan’s batting depth, which development programs have focused on over the last two years.

The performance is likely to improve Pakistan’s standing in the ICC Women’s Twenty20 International (T20I) rankings, potentially moving them into the top eight. Domestically, the feat may encourage greater sponsorship and grassroots participation in women’s cricket across Pakistan.

Analysts will watch whether Sana can replicate this scoring rate in upcoming high‑stakes matches, such as the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup qualifiers later this year. They will also observe how Pakistan’s bowling unit adjusts when defending totals above 200, a scenario that has occurred in only two of their recent T20 internationals.
