Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji reported that 620 of 624 APC members in Ward 6, Ikogosi voted unanimously for President Bola Tinubu, calling it a vote of confidence.

That outcome highlights strong internal party backing as the All Progressives Congress continues its presidential primary process.

Oyebanji spoke after casting his own ballot at the ward’s polling station on Saturday morning. He described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and a true reflection of the party’s commitment to internal democracy.

The governor noted that similar voting exercises were held across Ekiti’s 177 wards, with party members turning out to express their preferences for the presidential ticket. He said the overall atmosphere showed unity and a shared sense of purpose among APC members.

Oyebanji emphasized that the process allows every registered member to have a direct say in who becomes the party’s flag bearer, reinforcing internal democratic practices.

In Ward 6, 620 party members cast ballots, all in favor of Tinubu, while the ward has 624 registered APC members. This translates to a 99.4 % approval rate among those who voted.

Oyebanji quoted the visible enthusiasm of voters as evidence that members are confident in Tinubu’s leadership direction. He said the enthusiasm displayed was a clear indication of unity and purpose within the party.

The governor added that, if performance is used as a yardstick for electoral success, there is nothing to fear about APC and Tinubu securing victory in the 2027 presidential election. He linked the strong primary showing to expected general‑election performance.

The near‑unanimous ward result signals solid grassroots support for Tinubu’s continued candidacy, reinforcing the party’s narrative of internal cohesion ahead of the national convention.

However, the vote reflects only the preferences of registered party members and does not guarantee broader electorate approval in a general election. Analysts caution that primary enthusiasm must translate into wider voter outreach to affect national outcomes.

The outcome also serves as a data point for party strategists measuring internal democracy health; they will compare Ward 6’s turnout and approval rates with those from other wards to gauge overall member engagement.

Observers will monitor the remaining ward results from Ekiti’s primaries and watch how the APC translates this internal unity into campaign strategies for the 2027 presidential race.
