Cognition AI is discussing a new funding round that would value the company at roughly $25 billion, over twice its current $10.2 billion valuation. This comes after its July 2025 purchase of Windsurf, which helped Devin’s annual recurring revenue climb from $1 million in September 2024 to $73 million by June 2025.

Founded in late 2023, Cognition AI built Devin, an autonomous AI software engineer that can write, test, and deploy code from start to finish. The startup raised over $400 million earlier this year in a round led by Founders Fund, positioning it for rapid growth in the competitive AI coding space.

The Windsurf acquisition added complementary technology and customer bases, accelerating Devin’s adoption. By June 2025, Devin’s ARR reached $73 million, a seventy‑three‑fold increase from nine months prior. This revenue surge underpins the company’s push for a higher valuation in upcoming talks.

If the $25 billion funding round closes, Cognition would rank among the world’s most valuable AI coding firms, surpassing many publicly traded peers. The valuation reflects investor confidence in Devin’s ability to generate recurring revenue at scale.

Watch for the final terms of the funding round and any further product integrations from Windsurf that could affect Devin’s market traction.
