The Associated Press declared Analilia Mejia the winner of the NJ-11 special general election at 8:07 p.m. Mejia, the Democratic candidate, secured a decisive victory with 76,425 votes. This total accounted for 60.0% of the ballots counted.

Joe Hathaway, the Republican candidate, garnered 50,379 votes, representing 39.5% of the total. Independent candidate Alan Bond received 582 votes, or 0.5%. Hathaway conceded the race approximately one hour after polls closed, stating he looked forward to a rematch in November.

Following the announcement, Mejia addressed supporters, thanking voters for electing an "unbought, unbossed, sassy new member of Congress." The campaign preceding the election featured direct exchanges between Mejia and Hathaway, who had each won their respective party primaries.
