Collins Sor gave Amed their foothold in the match when he levelled from a set piece on the stroke of half-time. The forward had already carved out the most threatening individual numbers on the pitch: one goal, three shots on target, and an xG of 0.85 — the highest of any player on either side. His rating of 8.29 reflected not just the finish but the constant pressure he applied before his 50th-minute substitution, when Gift Orban entered the game.

Trabzonspor had struck first. Mohamed Salah collected a pass from Ernest Muçi on the counter in the 11th minute and finished left-footed to open the scoring. The goal carried an xG of 0.41, one of only two big chances Trabzonspor manufactured all evening. Salah's goal briefly threatened to settle the contest, but Amed refused to cede control of the physical battle. They won 46 duels to Trabzonspor's 43 and committed 18 fouls, outworking a side that entered the match as clear favourites.

Set Pieces Define the Scoreline

Both Amed goals arrived from dead-ball situations. Collins Sor's equaliser just before the break came from a set piece with no assist credited, converting an xG of 0.75. Gift Orban's winner in the 90th minute was assisted by Mehmet Yesil — introduced from the bench at the 61st minute — and finished with his left foot from a set piece worth 0.73 xG.

The contrast in set-piece output told the story. Amed's set-play xG reached 0.96 across the match. Trabzonspor managed just 0.13 from dead balls. Amed generated 21 touches in the opposition box, more than double Trabzonspor's 12, and their total xG of 2.39 was nearly three times their opponents' 0.84. Chance creation ran firmly in the home side's favour even as Trabzonspor monopolised the ball.

The Possession Disconnect

Trabzonspor finished with 60% possession and completed 452 passes at 86% accuracy. They dominated the opposition half with 177 passes in the attacking third compared to Amed's 114. Yet the visitors managed only five shots on target from eight attempts, and their open-play xG of 0.71 barely exceeded Amed's 0.64 from open play. The ball circulation was sterile. Amed sat at 40% possession but created the clearer openings, a dynamic that crystallised after half-time when Trabzonspor's share of the ball rose to 65% yet produced little of genuine threat.

The substitution pattern shaped the second half. Trabzonspor replaced Noah Saviolo with Aral Simsir at the 34th minute, an early tactical switch that failed to arrest Amed's growing control. At the 59th minute, Trabzonspor introduced Ozan Tufan for Fabinho. Amed responded by sending on Mehmet Yesil for Gökhan Gül at the 61st minute — a move that directly supplied the winning assist — and Furkan Soyalp for David Bates in the same double change. Gift Orban made the most of his 40-minute cameo, delivering the decisive contribution when the match appeared headed for a draw.

The result leaves Trabzonspor with questions about their ability to convert dominance into goals. Amed, meanwhile, leave Diyarbakır with three points and a statement that graft and set-piece efficiency can outweigh a significant gap in technical quality.
