AI and Gendered Storytelling Meet in Barcelona This November
Details on the IX International Conference in Vic, Barcelona, focusing on AI's impact on gendered storytelling. Abstract deadline 20 June 2026.

*TL;DR: Researchers will gather in Vic, Barcelona on 25 Nov 2026 for a hybrid conference on AI’s role in gendered storytelling; abstracts are due 20 Jun.*
The University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia is hosting the IX International Conference *Storytelling Revisited: Artificial Intelligence and Gender* on 25 November 2026. The event aims to dissect how AI tools such as chatbots and generative models shape narrative creation and gender representation.
Organisers have opened abstract submissions to scholars worldwide, with a deadline of 20 June 2026. Accepted papers will be notified by 30 June, and authors may present a 15‑minute talk followed by a five‑minute discussion. Participants can also submit full papers for a monographic issue, due by 15 October.
The conference adopts a hybrid format. In‑person sessions will be held in Sala Segimon Serrallonga on the Vic campus, while remote attendees join via Zoom. Registration is free from 1 July to 15 November.
Key topics include automated storytelling, shared human‑AI authorship, ethical and aesthetic implications of AI‑generated narratives, and the ways algorithms reinforce or challenge gender stereotypes. The programme also welcomes proposals on inclusive storytelling, bias mitigation, and the cultural impact of algorithmic creativity.
The convening reflects growing academic concern that AI‑driven narrative tools can both expand and constrain representation. By scrutinising bias in training data and exploring collaborative authoring models, researchers hope to chart pathways toward more diverse and equitable storytelling.
Watch for the conference proceedings, which will compile the latest findings on AI‑mediated narrative practices and gender dynamics, shaping future research and policy discussions.
